| Okay, I know the next question will be a bit strange, but I think it is worth mentioning and it is worth thinking of. How many dragon species do you know of? I have heard about many, some from mythology, others from dragonkin. Like the chinese Lung, or the amphitere... and so on. I would like you, to write down your species, a sort of introduction of it. In the days of old, people have joined and put their knowledge of arcane together and have written tomes and book called Beastiary. In these books there were many creatures, with a picture and a description (though I know that mostly these books were like fables, in a sense that most beings have a teaching to tell in a way). Perhaps we can re-create a book like that here on the forum. And yes, I will introduce my species as well; but I'd like someone else to start first.

| Pygmy dragons, can't help but aww at the thought, so cute. Sorry, I have a weakness towards small dragons. Well then, I suppose I should intoduce my kind now. I am a western dragon, which means seven limbs (2 fore and 2 hind legs, a pair of wings and a tail). To be honest, I don't know much of my kind. As far as I know, I am the only one of my kind, there should be only one at a time. Though, I can't say for sure, if there were or not any ancesters for me, but it seems unlikely. We, or I lived in many places; but actually there was no place that I could call my home. I wondered through the many worlds and observed other dragons. Since there was only one, there is no culture - or at least not like many races have - of my kind, nor did I don a name. What I do know is that magic had played a very ipmortant part in my life. There was no spoken language that was mine specifically, though I did communicate, with a sort of emotion and feeling transfer. I had a sort of shapechanging ability, to suit me on my endless journey - but even so, I had a very stabile form of the western dragon I introduced, which I don most of the time. I was carnivorous, a trait which I still seem to have: there is nothing like fresh meat. I guess that is what I would share right now.

| This is an old, old, old list I used to have on my website: - Quote :
- True Dragon Species List
This is a list of dragon species currently represented on Earth. I accept that its not complete, nor do I think it ever will be. Not every dragon living here can remember their past clearly and some who do are not online to share their history.
A lot of dragons tend to use their clan name to distinguish themselves from others so I've used them here too.
This list was put together using posts from my forum, the truewyrm and realdragon email groups, various websites, and emails Ive received.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dragon Species List (Version 2)
Aldraein Dragons (Part Dragon/Part Elven) Anataries Dragon Ashiranen Clan Dragons Dracanthropus multiformis (Half Dragon/Half Human) Dracofeline (Half Dragon/Half Cat) Dragndasaur Dragons Dralan (Dragon Shifter) Dralla Fire Mountain Clan Dragons Fomget (Western Dragon Shapeshifter) Hydrocarthianan Illsyndran Dragons Kevlanian Dragons (From Kevlan) Nebelung Dragons Praestonic Dragon Rakasha (Shapeshifting Energy Demon) Sagert Dragons Shen-Tzi Shinoar Turisean Dragon Vexis Dragons Vishna Whistling Dragons (From Tereskądhar) When I first did my website I printed out all the pages so I had a paper copy to fall back on if needed, and whilst sorting out the garage the other day I found it. I have quite a bit of Illsyndran information on my LiveJournal but most of my notes about other species were written into notebooks which I never got around to typing up.
| Hmm, interesting list there. I think I'd be somewhere "inbetween" a Fomget and a Rakasha. Though, I insist, I am not a crossbred, nor a demon. But I must add, many on that list aren't familiar by their names. A little help please, Tysha?
((sidenote: what is that "dices roll" thing that I saw when I made the reply?))
There is a good chance you're not related to either. Had I maintained the list I'm sure it would be a lot longer now. - Quote :
I'm still working my way through my old notebooks as I'd be surprised if I didn't make any other note beyond the names. Unfortunately I know I have another archive box filled with notebooks and printed webpages, so there is a good chance the information you want is still in the garage. But that said, maybe other members will recall the species in that list and will be able to help. I don't have a clue about the dice roll box...
| Thank you for the help. I don't want to rush you with your work, I know how "sticky" old notes and archives can get. When I searched through mine I stayd almost half an hour at each stack of notes basking in nostalgy, and yelling time to time "There you are! I've been searching for this in ages!" . Will have to ask a moderator about that dice thingy. I am curious now... | |
| With the loss of Dragons' Empire, I don't think this list will be very helpful but I'll post it anyway, just in case. I dragged this out of the wayback machine but I cannot find the notes that accompanied each name, the web archive doesn't seem to have saved them. - Quote :
| I don't sadly, they were lost when the site got taken down.
I did email Nargus to ask if he has the descriptions handy and would he be willing to email them to me, but I didn't think to ask about the images too. I'll see if I get a reply first.
